Product Details

BQ7693003DBTR is a multi-cell battery monitor IC designed for battery management and protection systems using 6 to 10 cells connected in series. The device is part of the TI BQ76930 family and supports Li-Ion and Li-Phosphate battery chemistries, providing an analog front end for monitoring individual cell voltages and battery operating conditions.

The device integrates measurement and protection functions required in a multi-cell battery pack. Its internal ADC can measure individual cell voltages, device temperature and external thermistors, while a separate measurement path monitors pack current and supports coulomb counting. The device can directly support up to three thermistors for temperature monitoring within the battery pack.

BQ7693003DBTR provides hardware protection functions for common battery fault conditions, including overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent during discharge and short-circuit conditions. Integrated charge and discharge low-side N-channel MOSFET drivers can be used to control external protection MOSFETs, allowing the battery management circuit to disconnect the pack when defined fault conditions occur.

Cell balancing functionality is integrated into the device, helping the battery management system manage voltage differences between cells in a series-connected pack. This is particularly useful in rechargeable battery systems where maintaining balanced cell voltages can contribute to consistent pack operation.

Communication with the host controller is provided through an I2C-compatible digital interface. A dedicated alert function allows the device to notify a host microcontroller when monitoring or protection events occur. The device also provides a regulated output that can be configured for 2.5V or 3.3V operation, depending on the system design.

BQ7693003DBTR supports 6 to 10 series-connected cells and operates over a -40°C to +85°C temperature range. The device is supplied in a 30-pin TSSOP package, making it suitable for battery management boards where multiple cell-sensing connections and protection-control signals must be integrated into a compact PCB design.

Typical applications include lithium-ion and lithium-phosphate battery packs for electric mobility, power tools, portable equipment, industrial battery systems and energy storage applications. Its combination of cell monitoring, current measurement, balancing, temperature monitoring and hardware protection makes it suitable for battery management architectures that require an external host controller for higher-level battery control and system management.

When designing with BQ7693003DBTR, engineers should verify the exact cell configuration, battery chemistry, protection thresholds, external MOSFET arrangement, thermistor configuration and host-controller communication requirements against the applicable Texas Instruments documentation.
