ADIN1300CCPZ for Industrial Gigabit Ethernet


ADIN1300CCPZ from Analog Devices is a single-port industrial Ethernet PHY designed for reliable 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. It combines low communication latency with flexible MAC interfaces, extensive diagnostics and industrial EMC capabilities, making it suitable for equipment where Ethernet performance and deterministic communication are important.

The device supports 10BASE-Te, 100BASE-TX and 1000BASE-T in accordance with IEEE 802.3 requirements. MII, RMII and RGMII interfaces allow the PHY to connect with a wide range of processors, controllers and Ethernet MAC devices.

Gigabit Performance with Low Latency

ADIN1300CCPZ is designed for time-sensitive industrial Ethernet systems where PHY latency can affect overall network performance.

For 1000BASE-T operation through the RGMII interface, the typical transmit latency is specified below 68ns while receive latency is below 226ns. The device also provides low latency for 100BASE-TX communication, making it suitable for systems that need to support multiple Ethernet speeds without changing the PHY architecture.

The PHY supports programmable RGMII timing delay and drive current, giving hardware designers additional flexibility when optimizing the interface between the PHY and MAC.

Built for Industrial Ethernet Networks

The ADIN1300 architecture includes features intended for demanding industrial environments. It supports Time Sensitive Networking applications and provides IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet functionality.

IEEE 1588 timestamp support can be used in systems that require precise network time synchronization. This makes ADIN1300CCPZ particularly relevant to industrial control, robotics, motion systems and other applications where synchronized communication is important.

The device also supports enhanced link detection, automatic polarity correction and pair-swap correction, helping simplify Ethernet interface implementation.

Ethernet Diagnostics and Network Management

ADIN1300CCPZ integrates several tools for monitoring and troubleshooting the physical Ethernet connection.

Its cable diagnostic functions use TDR and signal analysis techniques to help identify cable-related problems. Frame generation and checking, multiple loopback modes and configurable LED functions are also available for development, production testing and field diagnostics.

The MDIO/MDC management interface supports IEEE 802.3 Clause 22 and Clause 45 management structures, providing access to PHY configuration and status information from the host controller.

Flexible MAC Interface and Power Design

The PHY supports MII, RMII and RGMII MAC interfaces. Its VDDIO supply can be configured independently, supporting 1.8V, 2.5V or 3.3V MAC-side logic.

The device integrates power monitoring and power-on reset functions to help manage startup conditions. Low power consumption is another important characteristic, with typical power consumption around 330mW for 1000BASE-T and 140mW for 100BASE-TX operation.

The PHY can support cable lengths up to 150 meters at Gigabit speeds and up to 180 meters at 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps under suitable system conditions.

Compact Industrial Package

ADIN1300CCPZ is housed in a 40-lead 6mm × 6mm LFCSP package with an exposed pad. The CCPZ ordering variant is specified for an extended -40°C to +105°C ambient operating range.

Its compact package, multi-speed Ethernet capability and industrial-oriented feature set make it suitable for space-constrained equipment that still requires Gigabit networking performance.

Applications

ADIN1300CCPZ can be used in industrial automation, factory and process control, robotics, motion control, building automation, instrumentation and industrial IoT equipment.

It is also a practical choice for TSN-capable Ethernet nodes, industrial gateways and embedded controllers that require low-latency Gigabit Ethernet connectivity with flexible MAC interfacing.
