GRM155R71H104KE14D 100nF 50V X7R MLCC for Compact Electronics


The GRM155R71H104KE14D is a Murata multilayer ceramic capacitor designed for compact electronic circuits. With a nominal capacitance of 100nF and an X7R dielectric, it is the kind of component commonly used for local bypassing and signal filtering.

At this scale, PCB placement becomes much more flexible. A capacitor can be positioned very close to an IC pin, sensor or other circuit node without using significant board area.

This is particularly useful in:

The trade-off is that very small components require more care during PCB assembly and inspection.

X7R Dielectric

The X7R dielectric is widely used for general purpose decoupling.

The rest of the MPN is equally important. A large number of ceramic capacitors share the same 100nF value, but they can differ in package size, dielectric, voltage rating and tolerance.

Where It Can Be Used

GRM155R71H104KE14D can be considered for a range of low power electronic applications.

What About DC Bias

Even with a simple 100nF MLCC, the actual operating capacitance can depend on the applied voltage.

This effect becomes especially relevant with ceramic capacitors using high capacitance values, but designers should still select components based on the complete electrical specification rather than assuming that the nominal value tells the entire story.

For precision or particularly sensitive circuits, the manufacturer's electrical characteristics should be checked under the intended operating conditions.

GRM155R71H104KE14D Replacement

A replacement needs to match the requirements of the PCB rather than just the capacitance.

The package size is especially important here. A 100nF capacitor in a 0603 package is not automatically a suitable substitute for a 0402 component when the PCB footprint has already been fixed.

Voltage rating, dielectric, tolerance and other electrical characteristics should also be compared.
