The ADM3053BRWZ-REEL7 is a signal and power isolated CAN transceiver from Analog Devices, combining CAN physical-layer communication, digital isolation and an integrated isolated DC-to-DC converter in a single device. It is designed for CAN networks where galvanic isolation is required between the controller side and the bus side.
With support for data rates up to 1Mbps and compliance with the ISO 11898 standard, the ADM3053 is suited to industrial communication equipment and fieldbus applications.
A key feature of the ADM3053BRWZ-REEL7 is that both CAN signal isolation and isolated power conversion are integrated into the device. Its iCoupler isolation technology separates the logic interface from the CAN bus, while the integrated isoPower circuit provides isolated power for the bus-side circuitry.
The device provides 2.5kV rms signal and power isolation. This architecture can simplify isolated CAN interface designs by reducing the number of separate isolation and power-conversion components required on the PCB.
The ADM3053 supports CAN communication at data rates up to 1Mbps. It provides a standard CAN physical-layer interface with CANH and CANL bus connections and logic-side TXD and RXD signals.
The device operates from a 5V supply on VCC, while the VIO interface supports either 5V or 3.3V operation. This allows the transceiver to interface with different logic-level systems while maintaining isolation between the controller and CAN bus.

The ADM3053BRWZ-REEL7 is supplied in a 20-lead wide-body SOIC package. The surface-mount package is suitable for automated PCB assembly and provides the physical separation required for the isolated interface.
The REEL7 suffix identifies the tape-and-reel ordering version, making it suitable for volume surface-mount production.
